Meningococcal disease in Cape Town

Abstract


This paper reviews the occurence of meningococcal disease in the greater Cape Town area of the Western Cape for the past seven years in order to underscore the need for a high index of suspicion, early diagnosis, immediate treatment and prompt appropriate chemoprophylaxis.
